I began my YouTube Channel in late 2022. I’ve learned a lot about filming, editing and storytelling. I have some projects I’d like to get to this year that would help me enjoy my Trailer more. Some say Sponsorships could help me but I have my own view on that.
I still get offers to do Paid Sponsorhips. I have avoided Sponsorships because I want to stay true to my Frugal Living roots. By you watching my videos, I am able to earn an income on YouTube. I put lots of effort into making content. I try to provide well-made content on a smaller scale channel.
With Sponsorships, there are expectations that must be met in order to keep the sponsored product. As I approach my business plan for 2026, I think of my Viewers, Subscribers and Channel Members when making the decision about Sponsorships. It may not be the best financial decision to avoid Paid Sponsorships. But, I don’t feel good about trying to sell my audience products they may not be able to afford or may not even want.
These decisions are not easy to make. On the one hand, I could offer “air time” on my video to advertise for the Paid Sponsors and in return receive the benefits that come with that. However, I think it would be a mistake to proceed with Sponsorships when many of my Viewers are managing a low-income, dealing with the expenses at retirement, on disability, or they are truly dealing with financial hardships. Not all of my Viewers are facing financial pressure, but I look at the comments and ask myself would these folks want to see sponsored products that are beyond their reach? So for the year 2026, I am saying no to Paid Sponsorships.
