The world changed once the Internet was introduced. It was not always a world with endless options to listen to others. In the world of today, there is a lot of noise out there. Everyone has an “audience”. Whether it is a friendship, a family relationship, posting thoughts on social media, making videos … someone is listening to you.
The incentive to monetize cruelty is something I’ve noticed this year. Speaking opinions, for some, has come with the opportunity to make a living, even a fortune. It seems there are so many “Commentators” that guide others into their belief system. Like most people today, I listen to others, but for what purpose? Sometimes it’s entertainment. Other times it’s for information. Who and what is a trustworthy source for what’s going on in the world, or to discuss an event. What is acceptable today would not be tolerated 25 years ago.
Where to turn to when everywhere you look seems stressful, disappointing or scary. Look up! That’s what I tell myself during this time, just look up. I was given a Bible years ago and then I found a large print Bible at the thrift store later on. It can be hard for me to read, but if I can read one passage a day, then I can read another passage tomorrow and repeat the next day.
Back to the audience that we all have in some way or another. I’ve had a few interactions while out shopping that have been so rewarding. I’ve experienced people that want to discuss God. More people are looking at the world and wondering if we are living in the “End Times” and what is to come. I have been able to speak directly to a few people that are so kind, who are also looking up.
When the world is too much, and life is too uncertain, many are seeking more than what can be seen or heard. For many, we are looking up!
