During the Pandemic in 2020, when so much was upside down and uncertain, I was given less than a month’s notice to vacate my rented apartment. By a twist of events, or what I believe was God’s plan, this trailer came up. I had never lived in a trailer before, so I had zero knowledge on where to begin to fix it up. Dealing with an unexpected bug infestation was just the cherry on top of an already difficult experience. Although my renovation budget was small, I was able to do a bare-bones renovation to refresh and update the trailer enough to move-in.
The renovation provided a fresh coat of paint to cover the vinyl clad wallpaper that many trailers have. Along with the paint came new kitchen base cabinets, and a new bathroom sink. I did not have the funds for flooring. Then I got my mini-fridge, and later a bed. As time went by, I was able to buy more things I wanted or needed from the thrift store, Amazon or even find free at the dump. It’s been a challenging road but one that I’m so happy to travel upon.
Moving during the Pandemic was very challenging. At that time, the city had a night time curfew. Looking back on it all, I recognize how God put everything in place. 2020 was a hard year for sure. This trailer has been my “starting over” chapter in life that has been one of the biggest blessings I can think of! Everything was uncertain in 2020 and being told to vacate my home back then, was a hardship. I believe God provided this trailer opportunity for me and it has become my “Home Sweet Home” and I love my little home! I continue to work on it in any way I can think of from storage solutions to setting up a living room dining area all in one big open room.
My home is an unfinished space. I still visit Habitat for Humanity to look for kitchen cabinets and I’ll eventually find them. I still have projects like flooring to buy and put down. I’ll get there, one project at a time and hope you will come along to watch the progress!
Hi Sarah: Visiting from your YT channel. I came to learn more about your small trailer. I want to learn how you obtained it and where you put it to live in. I plan to subscribe to your channel so I can learn more about what you’ve done. I’ll be making comments on your vids. ArtsyLadyCrafter
Thank you for your comment! And for visiting my YouTube Channel, too. I bought my Trailer during the Pandemic, it is a used trailer that was already set-up to established utilities. I was fortunate to not have to move it, but I do not own the land. I pay to house my trailer where it is.
How did Mr turtle come to be at your house?
Mr. Turtle came home with me during one of my Dumpster Diving trips! He has become the Guard Turtle of my trailer!
