Have you ever had a job that looks easy but is difficult? Sometimes that’s what content creation feels like. I wish there was a solid solution to fix the current set of obstacles. I wish it were that easy. And I greatly appreciate the concern my Viewers have for me. Many are offering ideas to try to help. The platform I use has changed. It’s “back office” admin changes. It looks normal to a Viewer, but to the Content Creator there’s a world of change going on.
Each change is set up to look like the platform is helping. Whereas it’s starting to look more and more like greed. Could it be corporate greed? When a new change is implemented there’s a moment of hope. I think: maybe this will really help. As time goes on it’s like the change was just busy work that led nowhere.
Basically, the platform has created disruption. I suspect the changes are failing Content Creators. Maybe it’s a select grouping of channels within certain parameters that are mostly impacted. Just to become monetized is a difficult hurdle to jump. And many quit because of that. It’s one obstacle over the next. It feels like gaslighting. This is designed to help they say. But in reality, it’s hurting. What are small channels supposed to do?
To many, it looks different. It looks like channels are doing about the same as usual. The Viewer may not understand because they are not here to dissect what is going on. They are watching for enjoyment. And it generally looks the same as usual. But it’s not. I think many channels will drop off. They will disappear. It’s kind of like going through lay-offs in the workplace. But there’s no unemployment to catch you. There’s no back-up when you do Content Creation. Sadly, some folks may think this work is super easy or even a hobby. It’s actually a form of self-employment. And that takes a lot of courage to do because when things are slow, or the platform is disrupted, there is no back-up. It’s all on you.
I have been trying to sell items as a 2nd job so to speak to make things work. When I got my hair cut recently, I’d sold a high-end pair of shoes to cover the cost of the haircut. Whenever I come across the misunderstandings of my work (like it’s a hobby instead of work) I just shake my head. It is un-traditional work but it’s work. It’s actually the kind of work most people don’t do because it’s unstable.
Will the work continue? I’m putting forth my best efforts to make that happen. Will I have to do Sponsorships to make it? I might have to. Will this all work out? I have no idea. I’m praying about it all.
